W. Roak Zeller running for Portage County commissioner

W. Roak Zeller of Kent has announced his candidacy for Portage County Commissioner to replace Chris Smeiles, who has announced he will not run again.
Zeller, who is seeking the Republican nomination, made the announcement this morning. His statement follows:
“I, W. Roak Zeller, a lifelong resident of Kent and Brimfield, am running to be your Portage County Commissioner.
For way too long, commissioner power has been used to benefit a selected few. This must end. I am determined to clean up the corruption that has run rampant in our county for years.
County commissioners control how your tax dollars are spent and how economic growth is encouraged. It is time that you, your neighbors, and local employers have a seat at the table.
After many grim economic years here in Portage County, we finally have a great economic opportunity. Due to technological advances, we have an opportunity to develop the new found vast oil and natural gas resources within our county’s portion of the Utica Shale.
While some are trying to undermine this hope and leave our county behind, I am determined to lead our county in welcoming this development of jobs for you and your family. I am asking you to join together with me to remove the corruption, put the tough times behind us, and move into a bright future for all of our families.”
